About Halethorpe, MD

Located in Baltimore County, Halethorpe is a community to the west of Baltimore. Initially found in June 12, 1893, it is considered to be unincorporated. The United States Census Bureau classifies it as a subsection of Arbutus.

It has a population of approximately 33,000, with around 12,000 households in total. Residents have a median age of 35. Because the University of Maryland provides bus service to Halethorpe, there are students and faculty that choose to live in this area. The no. 77 bus line also provides service throughout the community.

Many other residents are employed at Halethorpe’s aluminum extrusion plant. While the plant was originally part of Kaiser Aluminum, it is now owned by Alcoa, who is one of the largest producers of aluminum in the world.
